Chris Borglum Chris Borglum earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree specializing in Literary Theory at the University of Florida. His areas of specialty include Freshman Composition, Surveys in Literature and Honors Composition courses. Professor Borglum has been coaching Valencia's Championship Brain Bowl team for the past seven years.
   
Lois Brennan Lois Brennan earned her Associate in Arts degree from Valencia Community College in 1992 and her Bachelor of Arts in English from Rollins College Hamilton Holt School in 1997.  Lois has been with Valencia since 1990 and is presently the Coordinator of Operations for the Winter Park Campus and a member of the Leadership Team.  She is also an adjunct instructor for College Prep English I and II and enjoys working with her students.
   
  Julie Corderman has been teaching at Valencia for five years.  She received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Sociology from Emory University and spent a year studying at the University of London.  Professor Corderman has a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Central Florida.  She also advises students through the Winter Park Career Center.
   
Diane Dalrymple

Diane Dalrymple has accepted the librarian position at the Winter Park Campus. Ms. Dalrymple completed her Bachelor and Master degrees in economics from the University of New Orleans. She has been awarded a Masters degree in Library and Information Science with a post-masters level Specialization in Reference from Florida State University. In addition, she has completed 42 doctoral credits in marketing and computer information systems from the University of Texas at Arlington. She has taught economics and marketing courses at several universities including an E- Marketing course at the University of Central Florida. She has worked as a library specialist and assistant at two of the Valencia campus locations including most recently at the Winter Park Campus. She has attended the Library Leadership Institute of the Florida Library Leadership Program and has been a member of various library associations.

   
Suzette Dohany Suzette Dohany earned a BFA in Acting and an MS in Communications from Florida State University. She has been teaching at Valencia Community College for nine years. Her areas of specialty include Speech, Student Success, Cross Cultural Communications and Student Leadership. For the past three years she has been actively involved with the highly entertaining Courtyard Players.
   
Jean Marie Führman Jean Marie Führman is Professor of English. She earned a BA at the University of Texas in Austin with a double major in English Literature and Television Communications and a double minor in Education Psychology and Classical Greek. She received an MA in English from University of Central Florida, where her graduate thesis was a collection of short stories entitled Mermaids and Other Women. Professor Führman has published short stories in the United States and China, and has held numerous writing jobs, including entertainment critic for a newspaper and public relations executive. Currently a member of the Associated Writing Programs (AWP), her areas of specialty include creative writing, rhetoric and composition, English grammar, and living the writer's "MacGyver" lifestyle.
   
Damion Hammock Damion Hammock has accepted a position teaching mathematics at the Winter Park Campus. Mr. Hammock completed his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in mathematical science from the University of Central Florida. Prior to his studies at the university, Mr. Hammock graduated from Valencia Community College where he was an avid Brain Bowl player. Mr. Hammock has several years of teaching experience at the East Campus of Valencia in preparatory and college-level math courses. He has taught part time and worked in the mathematics lab as a tutor at the University of Central Florida. Finally, he has worked as a systems engineer at Lockheed Martin Missiles for approximately three years. He is eager to begin a career teaching at the community college.
   
Linda Hidek Linda Hidek has been at Valencia Community College since the fall of 1998.  Before coming to Valencia she was the math lab supervisor and a prep-math instructor at Pensacola Junior College.  She received a bachelor's degree in math education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  Ms. Hidek is currently the supervisor of the Math Center and also teaches prep-math classes.
   
Susan MacPeek Susan MacPeek joined the Valencia team in 2008 as Manager, Credit Programs at the Winter Park Campus. She earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Anthropology from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Arts Degree in Anthropology from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. Prior to coming to Valencia, Ms. MacPeek served as Coordinator of Testing and Evaluation at the University of Florida where she also worked extensively with the state-wide CLAST program. 
   
Dr. Michele McArdle Michele McArdle has been with Valencia since 1990 and currently is the Chair for Credit Programs, including credit television courses and weekend college, at the Winter Park Campus.  She is a member of the Leadership Team of the Winter Park Campus which was selected for the Outstanding Leadership Award, 1999, by The Chair Academy.  Ms. McArdle has a BA in Psychology from Seton Hill College and a MA in Psychology from Duquesne University.  
   
Cate McGowan Cate McGowan received her Master of Fine Arts degree from Spalding University in creative writing and literature. Her Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, was from the University of Rochester where she double majored in history and art history. She is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Professor McGowan has taught creative writing and composition at Middle Tennessee State University and at Rollins College. Her other professional experiences include: chief editor of literary magazine, sfwp.org; arts editor and writer for Atlanta newspapers and for national and regional arts publications and travel publications. In addition, she has published short stories and poetry in anthologies and national literary magazines. Her proud accomplishment at Valencia is receiving the Award of Excellence in Teaching in English for the 2007-2008 school year.
   
Dr. Trudy McNair Trudy McNair has been teaching at Valencia's Winter Park campus for the past nine years. She received a bachelor's degree in history from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and spent a summer studying at Oxford University in England. Professor McNair has a master's degree in history from Rice University in Houston, Texas and a J.D. from the University of Texas Law School in Austin. She is very active in the Central Florida Branch of the English-Speaking Union, and in 1995 she spent another summer studying at Oxford University on a scholarship from the English-Speaking Union.
   
Susan Murray Susan Murray received her bachelor's degree in Sociology from Trinity University in Washington , DC ; her master's degree in Library Science from Florida State University ; and another master's degree in Business Administration from Dominican University in Illinois . She has many years of experience in academic libraries in California, Maryland, Illinois, and Washington, DC, where she was most recently the Director of Library and Academic Information Services at Trinity University. Susan is originally from Central Florida and is a graduate of Bishop Moore High School and still has family in this area as well.
   
Melanie Price Melanie Price began working at Valencia community College in 1999 as an educational advisor. She now manages new student orientation at the Winter Park campus. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Central Florida in 1998 and is currently working on her Master of Science in Counseling and Psychology at Troy University .
   
Patti Riva

Patti Riva earned a BA from the University of Alabama in Public Relations and Psychology and a Master's in Social Work from the University of Hawaii.  She worked primarily within the academic environment prior to employment at Valencia. Her big claim to fame, to date, is a movie credit in Mass Appeal with Jack Lemon.

   
Dr. Cheryl Robinson Cheryl Robinson joined the Winter Park Campus as the Interim Dean of Students in November 2004 and accepted the position on a permanent basis in July 2005. Cheryl has been with Valencia since 1997 when she joined the team as a Psychology and Student Success instructor and also served as both a career and educational advisor. Cheryl also serves as the Director of Assessment, a position she has held the last five years. Cheryl has her master's degree in Social Work, and her doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction, with an emphasis in Community Colleges. She currently teaches Teaching Diverse Populations online.
   
Dr. Upsana Santra

Upasana Santra has accepted a position teaching mathematics at the Winter Park Campus. She recently completed her Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Florida. Professor Santra has experience teaching graduate and undergraduate mathematics courses and has taught a statistics course for student with learning disabilities. She has written numerous publications and has been awarded William Mendenhall Award for Outstanding First Year Graduate Student. She received fellowship awards for her master's and doctoral degree. In addition to her experience in teaching, Professor Santra has worked as a statistical consultant.
