Emergency Medical Services
              1. All students submit a completed college application for admission by the College application deadline and must meet the college admission requirements.  Students seeking the AS degree in Emergency Medical Services, must meet the college entry level assessments, Computerized Placement Tests (CPT), and all mandatory courses in reading, student success, mathematics, English and English for Academic Purposes must be completed prior to submitting the Program Application.  Visit Valencia’s web site at www.valenciacc.edu/admissions for specific information.
              2. Complete the pre-requisites for entry into the Paramedic Program; BSC 1084 Essentials of Human Structure and Function with a C or better and current Florida EMT certificate.
              3.

A $15 non-refundable fee payable to the Valencia Community College must be submitted to the Business Department (SSB 101) with each application.  Turn in the completed program application to the Health Science Advising Office located on the West Campus in Building 2, room 208 prior to the application deadlne.*

*Students wishing to attend on the Osceola campus must apply to the Paramedic program by November 1st. 

*Students wishing to attend on the West campus must apply to the Paramedic program by July 1st.

              4.

Students accepted into the program will be notified by letter of a mandatory orientation class for course registration.  The orientation will also notify students of the process required to complete a background check and deadlines for completion.  Failure to meet the deadline will prevent students from starting program classes.  Applicants with a positive background check may be denied admission into the program. 

  • Applicants for Valencia Community College EMS program must be free of offenses that would disqualify them from a student clinical experience in a health care setting and must have their civil rights intact.  This policy is in response to requirements by clinical agencies and State/Federal regulations.
  • Each applicant must be screened by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for criminal history.  Each applicant must have a Social Security Verification, Residency History, Nationwide Sexual Offense Registry Search, Nationwide Healthcare Fraud/Abuse Scan, and a US Patriot Act/OFCA search.  A Nationwide Criminal Search is also required if the applicant has worked, resided, or has been a student outside of Florida during the 2 year period prior to the start of any Health Science Program at Valencia.

Note:   No student will be admitted into two (2) different Valencia Community College Health Science Programs within an academic year.
