Call for plays by Florida playwrights!

The Valencia Character Company, as they have since 1991, will produce a full-length original play in April, 2008, as part of its regular subscription series. Beginning June 1, 2007, we will be accepting the first fifteen pages of original, full length, never-before-produced manuscripts from writers residing in Florida. Musicals and adaptations are not eligible, and plays with roles for college-age actors are prefered. Deadline for submission of the excerpts is September 1, 2007.

The fifeen-page excerpts will be read by a panel of readers, and select playwrights will be invited to submit their full manuscripts for further consideration. Readers will choose one manuscript for production, which will then be developed and workshopped with the playwright's participation.   The playwright will receive a stipend to cover travel and other expenses relating to the production.   The panel plans to reach its decision by December 1, 2007, and the workshop process will begin in January 2007.
