Office for Students with Disabilities
Services
Services are provided on a case-by-case basis
and are dependent upon the impact of the student's disability. The
individual is encouraged to disclose to the OSD and provide the
necessary documentation. While personal services and personal aides
cannot be provided, reasonable accommodations will be arranged to
assist a student with a disability based on a plan to be developed
by the student and the Office of Students with Disabilites. Such
services may include testing accommodations, alternate text formats,
and other reasonable classroom and learning strategies.
Services Include:
- Academic advising and educational planning
- Career advising and planning
- Classroom accommodations such as, extended time on exams, materials in alternative formats, class notes, sign languauge interpreters, readers, scribes
- Instructor contact letters and liason with faculty to arrange accommodations
- Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services
- Assistive Technology
- Liason with community agencies such as the Division of Rehabilitative Services
- Assistance with admission, course selection and registration
The Role of the Office for Students with Disabilities
Students are encouraged to apply
for services prior to the start of classes. Although you can request services at any time, in order for services to be available the first day of class, students are encouraged to request accommodations as early as possible.
