Resources for Prospective Students
Welcome!
If you are thinking about attending Valencia Community College,
we welcome you!
Why should you choose Valencia? It can be hard to
decide which college to attend. Every college offers programs and
activities. Every college has a campus you can visit while you are
deciding. One way to decide is to ask yourself, "What is important
to me?" Some aspects you might consider important are academic
programs, campus activities, services for Deaf and hard of hearing
students, location, size, campus culture, technology resources,
and career-oriented programs and activiites.
Valencia Community College is a day school. Valencia students commute
to college and live off campus.
Valencia does not have classes specifically designed for Deaf students.
You will be mainstreamed with hearing peers in all your classes.
However, many of our instructors have had extensive experience with
Deaf and hard of hearing students and work closely with the OSD
and DHHS to ensure that each Deaf and hard of hearing student has
the same opportunities to succeed as hearing students.
If you would like more information or want to start the application
process, please make an appointment with Julie Balassa and one of
our OSD advisors on any campus to discuss your educational goals
and needs. If you would like services from the OSD, for example advising or interpreter services and other accommodations, you
will need to bring a copy of a recent audiogram and audiologist's report with you to the meeting.
To make an appointment, you can contact Julie or the OSD on any
campus. Contact information is on the Home page of this website.
You can also click on the Contact Us link and submit the contact
form. Please be sure to explain the reason for the appointment in
the Comments field.
