Introduction

We congratulate you on continuing your education at Valencia!

College is different from high school!

In high school, your teachers and the school staff were required by law to make sure you had interpreters and other services. In college, you have to "disclose" that you are Deaf or hard of hearing and you have to request services. That means that when you register for classes, make an appointment for a meeting, or plan to attend a special event, it is your responsibility to request an interpreter or speech to text provider. Valencia faculty and staff will not make these requests for you. This policy and our other policies are explained in the Student Handbook. It is your responsibility to read the Student Handbook and to be aware of our policies.
