“BRIGHT” Classrooms and Labs

We have defined a “Bright” classroom or lab to be very close in structure to that of our traditional “Smart” classroom.  The “Bright” room, however, is without the touchpanel and switching circuits which allow an enourmous amount of flexibility for the instructor.  All of our “Bright” rooms are configured with a standard compliment of equipment which includes:

• A ceiling mounted projector
• A pull down screen in the front of the class
• A DVD/VCR player
• A Dell PC with an additional wireless mouse
• The use of desktop speakers for either the video presentations or the PC audio
• A standard cabinet exactly like those found in the “Smart” classrooms.

This current configuration for each of the classrooms will easily allow future upgrades to either the speaker system, the addition of a document camera, or, as funding permits, a transformation to a full blown “Smart” classroom.  Our plan was to allow for future upgrades at minimal cost where none of the existing equipment need be replaced but simply added to.  Since these rooms are basic in their compliment of equipment, we have come up with a very appropriate anacronym.  “Bright” stands for:
