empty classroom with desks and two boardsThe Job Search course (SLS 1303) assists students in developing successful job search strategies for today's competitive and changing job market.

Upon successful completion of this one-credit course, students will be able to plan and implement a successful employment search that includes:

  • assessing work skills and job readiness
  • composing effective resumes, cover letters and other employment communications
  • preparing a career portfolio that provides evidence of employment-related skills, abilities, and achievements
  • completing employment applications accurately and effectively
  • networking and researching employment opportunities
  • using the Internet for job search and career planning research
  • identifying employers' expectations
  • preparing for and effectively participating in employment interviews

The Job Search course is beneficial to all students. Whether you're in the first year of college or returning for additional training, this course will help you develop or sharpen skills to land the job of your dreams.
