Policy Statement:
In compliance with the provisions of the Federal Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act of 1989, Valencia Community College will take such steps as are necessary in order to adopt and implement a program to prevent the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by Valencia Community College students or employees on college premises or as part of any college activity.
The president or a designee is authorized to impose disciplinary sanctions on students and employees (consistent with local, state, and federal law), up to and including expulsion or termination of employment and referral for prosecution, for violations of standards of conduct required by this policy. For the purposes of this policy, a disciplinary sanction may include the completion of an appropriate rehabilitation program.
