What is a Valencia online course template?

A Valencia online course template is a course developed by Valencia faculty members and based upon approved college course outcomes. These courses contain wonderful ready-to-use resources for you to use in your online, hybrid or web-enhanced courses.

In addition, these courses have been reviewed through an internal peer-review process based upon the principles of Quality Matters. Valencia has adopted the Quality Matters rubric for its peer-based approach to quality assurance and continuous improvement for online and hybrid courses.

A Valencia standard template sets up the framework for the basic design of your online or hybrid course and can be uploaded into your blank WebCT/Blackboard course. This template contains design elements that meet 15 of the essential standards for Quality Matters.

The template is can be fully customized for your course content for online delivery in any subject/discipline area. If you are new to teaching online or would like a starting point for course design, consider adopting this excellent resource for you and your students.

The standard template includes:

• Detailed header and footer information.
• Start Here Module*: contains vital student course orientation materials, that can be fully customized to your course.
• Sample Learning Module*: contains a basic framework for delivery of course content.
• Student Resources Module*: contains weblinks that connect students to vital collegewide learner support resources.
