Implementation Plan

February 8, 2002:  Advisory Committee monthly meeting. Note: The Advisory Committee will meet monthly throughout the grant period with the exception of the summer months when only one meeting will be held for the June/July time period.

February / March 2002:  Description of the presentation series will appear in the Orlando Sentinel Calendar Section; Valencia's faculty and staff weekly newsletter, The Bulletin; and Valencia's weekly student newsletter, The Valencia Source. Public service announcements will be aired on local radio and television stations, including Valencia Television (on cable). Promotional announcements will be strategically placed on Valencia campus bulletin boards, at local libraries, community centers, the Wells'Built African-American Museum of History and Culture, and will be promoted to local schools and their teachers, enabling them to offer the content to their students. Note: This promotional strategy will be utilized during key periods, as noted below, prior to presentations held throughout the grant period.

May 26, 2004: Taped interview of the Prometheus Project by Valencia Television from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m., Building 6-Third Floor/West Campus. The interview will be moderated by Dr. Ben Brotemarkle, and will include other selected panelists. It will be aired on Valencia Television sometime after May 26, 2004.

October, 2004: The Advisory Committee will not meet. Also, 3 Prometheus Project mini-course recruitment presentations by Professors Elizabeth Eschbach and David Sutton will be given to selected staff of the Rosen Hotels and Resorts on International Drive. Our plan is to implement one college-level, credit Prometheus Project course for eligible employees of the Rosen Hotels and Resorts in January, 2005. Finally, a second official Prometheus Project insitutionalization meeting will be held before October 31.

October 2, 2004: Prometheus Project presentation by John Scolaro, Director of the Prometheus Project and Stephen Davis, former Prometheus Project student and full-time Valencia Community College/East Campus student, for class of Dr. Linda Simmons at South Florida Center for Theological Studies/Central Florida Campus, Saturday, 10:00 a.m.-12 noon.

October 6, 2004: Meeting with Geraldine Gallagher, President of the Valencia Foundation, and Ann Puyana to discuss the availability of Foundation funds in support of The Prometheus Project, 2:30 p.m., Downtown Center.

March 16, 2005: Leadership Valencia Prometheus Project Workshop, Valencia Community College/East Campus, Building 5-112, 2 p.m.-4 p.m. Learn more about the face of poverty in Central Florida today and Valencia Community College's response to the underserved of our community. This workshop will include a discussion of how the humanities empower the poor to climb out of poverty and what you can do to help. This workshop will be presented by Elizabeth Eschbach, John Scolaro, David Sutton, Stephen Davis, Erlene Brinson, and Dr. Ron Habin.

This interview will be aired on Friday, June 16th, at 7 p.m. and on Saturday, June 17th, at 12 noon. Becky's interview with Stephen Davis over a year ago will also be aired on the above days and times.
