Florida Leadership Academy

Welcome to Valencia Community College's Florida Leadership Academy website.  The Florida Leadership Academy is a first line supervisors program that was developed by FDLE's Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute (FCJEI).   Valencia Criminal Justice Institute is bringing this course to central Florida with the endorsement and support of FCJEI.  This course runs for one week a month for four consecutive months.  Students will receive student guides and several books that are referenced during the training. For more information on the Florida Leadership Academy and to see pictures of previous classes, please visit FDLE's FCJEI website.  Be among central Florida's first to attend this prestigious leadership academy.  You will be trained by leading criminal justice instructors, who have hundreds of years of combined experience as supervisors, sheriffs, police chiefs and corrections directors.

Florida Leadership Academy Class 11

Valencia's Florida Leadership Academy instruction is provided by the

most respected criminal justice leaders selected from throughout the state.


Course Fee & Enrollment:

$1,000   Agency 2nd dollars funds are authorized.

Enrollment is limited to 30 students.  Consideration is given to the order in which the applications are received.  Applications must be received with payment by September 10, 2008.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Occupy a criminal justice position that includes full-time,  permanent responsibility for the supervision of others.
  • Currently hold the rank or position of a first-line supervisor that does not oversee other supervisors.
  • Show an employment history of increasing leadership responsibilities.
  • Have the intent to remain in criminal justice for at least five years following completion of the Leadership Academy.
  • Have the written nomination of his/her immediate supervisor indicating the applicant's potential for advancement in criminal justice.
  • Have the written endorsement of the agency chief executive pledging their support for the applicant's participation in the program.
