Lead Facilitator: Mike McHargue
Mike McHargue attended his first California GTS in 1982 and was invited to serve on their staff for several years thereafter. He led his first seminar in 1984 and since then has led more than 500 in the past 25 years. Mike has served as a trainer for Instructional Skills Workshops, Classroom Research/Classroom Assessment Techniques, the Chair Academy's Leadership Academies, Parker Palmer's Formation Work and Appreciative Inquiry. He has served Foothill Community College in California in several roles since 1977.
Mike has been a teacher for more than 40 years. He taught education at California State University Northridge, leadership at UCLA and learning strategies/college reading at Stanford. He also set up Stanford's university-wide testing program and began his work in professional development there. After a few years as an administrator, Mike returned to his first and best love: teaching and counseling.
Mike has averaged 5 or 6 conference presentations per year for the past couple of decades for local, statewide, regional and national conferences. He also received a dozen awards for professional development from state and national organizations. His PhD in Psychological Foundations of Education/Counseling Psychology was awarded by Stanford University in 1975. Mike is proud to be an Emeritus Senator for the California Community College Statewide Academic Senate.
