Supervisors of Career Service Employees
It is time to talk to your full-time career service employees regarding their upcoming yearly performance evaluation. An email reminder has been sent to supervisors that contain helpful guidelines that take you through the process to make this an effective experience. The Career Service Performance Evaluation form #30 is available in Atlas/Valencia Forms.
College policy 6Hx28:3E-01 states that full-time career service employees will be evaluated in writing at least once a year. The policy can be viewed on the Valencia website. From the home page click on Faculty & Staff, then under Employee Resources click on Policy Manual.
For employees who were in your department since July 1, 2008, the rating period is July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009. Contact Donna Boiani at ext. 8041 with any questions.

Outlook Tip-of-the-Week: Outlook Password Security
Unlike the old e-mail system you cannot have a separate password for the network and your e-mail. This is by design and is a step towards minimizing the number of passwords you will have to remember. There are, however, important security concerns that need to be considered, especially as we move toward a unified sign-in.
For more tips and FAQs please click on the OIT Tools icon on your desktop and select “Ask a Question.”
News from Procurement
Procurement Terminology - “Piggyback” simply means that we may utilize an existing (competitively solicited) contract from another government agency. Many government solicitations contain a clause that allows the vendor to extend the resulting contractual pricing to other agencies. This option permits the college to take advantage of competitive pricing obtained by larger organizations. There are additional cost savings through reduction in administrative expenses. For example, we often “piggyback” on State of Florida term contracts. This is another way we are able to obtain goods or services quickly at a reasonable cost.
P-Card Transactions and Notes - When adding notes to your P-Card transaction please be sure to include specific details so that anyone reviewing the transaction (including auditors) can understand what the purchase is. When using your P-Card for travel, give an itemized list in the description with a breakdown of who is traveling, how many nights the college is paying for the hotel, etc.
PaymentNet Transaction Dispute - Did you know that PaymentNet has a useful feature that allows cardholders to dispute P-Card charges directly with our card issuing bank JPMorgan Chase? A dispute can arise for many reasons, for example: failure to receive goods, duplicate charges, sales tax charge, incorrect amounts, etc. Note: Before using PaymentNet’s dispute feature, it is important that the cardholder first attempt to resolve the issue directly with the vendor. Most disputes are resolved expeditiously in this way and credits are refunded to the affected credit cards.
For questions regarding transaction disputes, please contact Kacy Weekes at ext. 1974.
Purchase of Paper - Our copy centers can sell you reams of color paper or specialized paper just for the asking. Please contact: West Word Processing at ext. 1266 or East Word Processing at ext. 2258.
Cabin Creek Food Services - See the back page for the fall operating hours.

Welcome back to everyone who was off for the summer and hope it was a healthy, relaxing one! We have LOTS of exciting Wellness activities kicking off this fall. They begin the week of September 7th and end December 12th. Be sure to visit the wellness website at http://valenciacc.edu/wellness to see the most up-to-date list of all the activities planned for the fall. No pre-registration is required, just show up for the class and remember - you can attend any campus.
The most exciting addition to the Wellness Program is the Wellness points you will be earning. You should have received an email with the points you have accumulated for any wellness activity you participated in and signed in for. You received one wellness point for each signature which then turned into Wellness bucks. There is a website you can redeem those bucks for some really nice gifts. Beginning in the fall, there will be sign-in sheets at the East and West Fitness Centers. Each time you sign in to work out you will receive a point. Please print your name so there is no problem reading it and you are given proper credit. You can go to the wellness website for additional information.
A new Step by Step Walking Program will begin September 14th. Walking is a great way to become physically active. This is a 12-week program. For each step you record you earn wellness bucks. You will receive an email with the sign-up form or you can download the form at the wellness website. Contact Debi Jakubcin at djakubcin@valenciacc.edu with any questions.
