Human Resources News

Important Information for all 10-Month Faculty. There are 26 pay periods in academic year 2009-2010. All 10-month faculty have the option of having their base salary disbursed in 22 payments over 10 months, based on academic appointment, or in 26 payments over 12 months. Once the first payroll for the academic year is processed, this option may not be changed until the next academic year.

Human Resources is posting this notice in the Bulletin as a reminder to 10-month faculty that changes to the current salary payment option may be made in June or July for the coming academic year. All 10-month faculty have this annual opportunity to revise their salary payment option. No action is necessary unless a change is being requested. Faculty wishing to make a change, are required to complete a Payment Option Form for 10-Month Faculty. The form is available online through Atlas at Valencia Forms. To make a change, a faculty member must complete the form and submit it with an original signature to Human Resources no later than July 31. Changes are then effective for the first payday in the new academic year.

Please contact Vicki Nelson at ext. 8031 if you have any questions.

Procurement News

Promotional Product Supplier Update - Be on the lookout for promotional product companies who have the same-or close to the same- name as one of our approved promotional suppliers. It has come to our attention that an advertising company by the name of American Advertising Specialties is not the same supplier as our approved supplier, American Ad Specialties. Tammy Lamm at American Ad Specialties has updated her website to say “Approved Vendor for Valencia Community College” on her home page. Please do not commit yourself or the college by agreeing to a shipment by American Advertising Specialties. Valencia has a contract with American Ad Specialties. Please contact Tammy Lamm directly when placing your order. Her contact information and a list of qualified suppliers for promotional products are listed below:

P-Card Transactions at Year End - You may use your P-card throughout the year end process, but please be aware that the transaction date is what will decide what budget the charge will go against. Keep this in mind and time your purchases accordingly.

Courier Service Requests - The Courier Services Department kindly requests that all faculty/staff please include both the person’s name as well as the mail code when sending documents via the interdepartmental mail. This helps us avoid opening interoffice envelopes that might contain confidential information in them in order to determine which person should be receiving it within the mail code. Also, we have begun purchasing interoffice envelopes that include a place for the date, person who is receiving the delivery, receiver’s mail code/department name, sender’s name, and the sender's department. These new interoffice envelopes will help save money for the College as they are $12.56 less per box of 100 then our previous interoffice envelopes.
