Class Room Expectations
You are expected to meet Valencia’s Student Code of Classroom Conduct
. In addition, the Bridges to Success Program expects you to conduct yourself in an appropriate manner at all times. Listed below are some examples of unacceptable conduct:
- Tardiness, leaving and returning during class, and early departure without authorization.
- Interruption of the learning process
- Side discussions which are not relevant to the subject matter of the class, that distract from the learning process, or limit the ability of other students to obtain the full benefit of the educational experience.
Assignments
You are expected to complete and submit all assignments according to your course syllabus. If you fail to submit your assignments in a timely manner, your professor may refer you to attend required weekly conferences, tutoring sessions or other supportive activities.
Mid-Term Evaluation
One of the benefits of the Bridges to Success program is the mid-term evaluation each semester. Each of your professors will receive a mid-term Academic Progress Report to complete and return to the Bridges to Success office. If any of your evaluations show that you are below average and in danger of failing your course, you will be required to meet with a Bridges Advisor to develop a plan for successfully completing the course. Your required plan of action may include bi-weekly conferences, tutoring sessions or other supportive activities.
Grade Point Average (GPA)
You will be required to complete your Bridges Summer Program courses with at least a 2.0 GPA and a 100% course completion to be recommended for continuation as a Bridges Achievers Scholar.
As a Bridges Achievers Program student, you will be required to have a 2.5 GPA by the end of the academic year (in May) and have completed at least 75% of your coursework. If you are below the required 2.5 GPA after the fall term, you will be required to participate in academic success activities to help you increase your grade point average.
