CLEP - FAQs

• As of July 1, 2009, the CLEP will cost $92 - $20 appointment fee and a $72 test fee.
  
  
• CLEP is given Monday - Friday on East, Osceola, and West Campuses by appointment only. 
  
  
• CLEP is only available on the computer.
  
  
• You can earn between 3 and 6 credits with one CLEP test, depending on the subject and score earned.
  
  
• You can earn up to 45 credits via CLEP. 
  
  
• Valencia provides testing for students enrolled at Valencia. Test scores must be sent to Valencia.
  
  
• You have to wait 180 days to retest.  Taking the same test within 6 months will invalidate your scores, and you’ll lose any money you paid for the appointment and the test. 
  
  
• You cannot retake a CLEP exam that you have previously earned credit for (for example, if you have CLEP credit for MGF1107 you cannot get CLEP credit for MGF1106).
  
  
• Except for the English Composition w/ Essay test, a copy of your results will be given to you at the end of the test (for additional copies download the Transript Request Form or call (800) 257-9558; official scores can take up to 4 weeks.
  
  
• In order to meet all graduation requirements, you should take the test prior to the term in which you expect to graduate.

Procedure for taking the CLEP:

Step 1:  Obtain a CLEP Appointment Request Form from the Assessment Center on any campus.

Step 2:  Fill out the CLEP Appointment Request Form and the CollegeBoard CLEP Registration Form.

Step 3:  Circle the exam(s) you wish to take.  You can select up to 3 exams per form. 

Step 4:  Pay the $20 administration fee (per exam) in the Business Office.  A separate administration fee is required for each test. All appointment fees are non-refundable, so be sure you want to test before you pay the fee. If you miss your appointment, or cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will need to pay the appointment fee again.

Step 5:  Bring the completed forms with the Business Office receipt to the Assessment Center to schedule an appointment.

Step 6:  Study!  You can download study guides from www.collegeboard.org/CLEP or http://www.studyguidezone.com/clep.

Step 7:  On test day, please bring 2 forms of ID including a government issued photo ID, such as your driver’s license, and the $72 test fee.  You can pay by credit card, check or money order (payable to CLEP). You cannot pay cash for the test.
