How much does the CAT-CLAST cost?
The CAT-CLAST is $10 for each appointment where you can take any
or all of the subtests you need. If you are not a degree-seeking
Valencia student the fee is $30.
What is the benefit of taking the CAT-CLAST instead of the paper version?
Since the CAT-CLAST is offered Monday through Friday, you can test
more frequently than the three-times-a-year scheduling found with
the paper version. Plus, you will see your scores immediately upon
completion. Although you see your scores right away, it may take
up to four (4) weeks before they are certified by the Department
of Education and become official.
How do I register for the CAT-CLAST?
Come to the Assessment Center on East (5-237), Osceola (1-127),
or West (SSB 235) Campus with your driver’s license or other
government ID. Complete the registration form, then pay the $10
fee in the Business/Finance Office. Return the receipt to the Assessment
Center to schedule your appointment. Transient students must visit
their home institution to get a referral to test at Valencia.
What if I need to reschedule my appointment?
You can reschedule your appointment once, at no charge, with 24
hours notice before the appointment. For additional changes, or
if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will forfeit your
test fee. You will need to re-register for the CAT-CLAST, and pay
the fee again. Test fees are non-refundable.
Who is eligible to test?
To be eligible, you must be a Valencia A.A. degree-seeking student
with 18 college level credit hours. You must have successfully completed
ENC 1101, ENC 1102, and at least one Gordon Rule mathematics class.
Do Education majors need the CLAST?
Education majors can use the CLAST
Alternative to meet Valencia graduation requirements, but must
take and pass all parts of the CLAST or General
Knowledge Test in order to register for upper-level courses
at a 4-year institution.
What must I bring on the test day?
You need two forms of valid ID, at least one of which was issued
by a government agency. Government IDs include driver’s license
(with photograph), passport, military ID, or state ID card.
What can’t I bring on the test day?
Calculators, dictionaries, translators, reference books, rulers,
or any other type of test aid. Scratch paper & pencil will be provided
for the math test.
How often can I retake the CAT-CLAST?
You must leave thirty-one (31) days between subtest attempts. You
must register and pay the $10 fee each time you test.
How do I study for the CAT-CLAST?
There are CLAST preparation materials at the Library on every campus,
other libraries, bookstores, and on-line. For more information go
to CLAST Review.
Where do I go to take the CAT-CLAST?
The CAT-CLAST is in Student Services Building Room 235 on Valencia’s
West Campus located at 1800 S. Kirkman Rd. in Orlando.
