These are short-term programs that can be completed in one year or less. They are designed to equip you with a specialized skill set for immediate employment or job advancement. All of the certificate courses are also included in the related A.S. degree program so they can be used as building blocks toward completing the degree -- which will help improve your earning potential.

  • Computer Programming with specializations in: Computer Programming, Game Programming and Web Development (33credits)

  • Computer Programming Specialist with specializations in: Computer Programming and Web Development (18 credits)

Program Description:

If you're serious about acquiring the skills to enter the fast-paced world of information technology, then an A.S. degree in Computer Programming and Analysis is just what you need. Students in this program develop skills in computer software development and analysis, while enjoying hands-on training in the foundations of computer technology, databases, Web applications, user applications and computer programming. Elective courses allow students to enhance their skill sets with advanced programming and Web development. All classes are taught in state-of-the-art computer labs, and the curriculum includes an internship program that places students directly into IT departments where they can put their new knowledge into practice while still enrolled.

Prepares for Industry Certification in:

  • Sun Certified Java Programmer
  • CIW Foundations

Typical Tasks may include:

  • using current modeling techniques to analyze business problems that require an IT solution
  • designing, implementing and testing computer applications developed with the latest programming languages and web technologies
  • working on a team to provide technical solutions to customer problems and needs
  • developing applications for both client and server side windows and web applications
