These are short-term programs that can be completed in one year or less. They are designed to equip you with a specialized skill set for immediate employment or job advancement. All of the certificate courses are also included in the related A.S. degree program so they can be used as building blocks toward completing the degree -- which will help improve your earning potential.

Program Description:
Studying hospitality and tourism management
in the tourist mecca of the United States means incredible
exposure to this booming industry. And an A.S. degree is the
key to getting started. Valencia students train in a sophisticated
computer lab with a dynamic point-of-sale system and a hotel
front desk simulation area, which will prepare you to work
on cruise ships or in convention centers, in restaurants or
resorts. This program combines classroom instruction with
on-the-job training to help move students into supervisory
and mid-management positions.
Typical Tasks may include:
planning, organizing, and managing the operation of restaurants, hotels, motels and other eating and lodging facilities
analyzing and controlling food and labor costs, monitoring sales, evaluating competition, and developing a marketing plan
planning and executing banquets, conventions and other major events
hiring and training personnel, determining schedules
