Related Certificate Programs:
These are short-term programs that can be completed in one year or less. They are designed to equip you with a specialized skill set for immediate employment or job advancement. All of the certificate courses are also included in the related A.S. degree program so they can be used as building blocks toward completing the degree -- which will help improve your earning potential.

Program Description:
With tremendous advancement in computer-driven technologies,
the approach to designing and planning of land developments
has changed dramatically. Valencia's A.S. degree in Landscape
and Horticulture Technology takes a well-rounded approach
offering specializations in both landscape and horticulture.
Areas you may specialize in: Landscape & Horticulture
Landscape Specialization
- focuses on landscape design, construction, and maintenance,
and trains students to design, supervise, and manage exterior
and interior landscapes. They plan the location and arrangement
of flowers, trees and shrubs around buildings, parks, roads,
and walkways.
Horticulture Specialization
- is designed to prepare students for careers
in both greenhouse and nursery operations, which includes
instruction in greenhouse culture of foliage or flowers
and wood nursery production. Students are specially trained
to operate and manage all types of plant productions, programs
and facilities.
Typical Tasks may include:
Propagating, growing, maintaining and marketing plants
Inspecting and diagnosing plants for plant problems
Operating or managing a greenhouse or nursery
Designing, constructing and maintaining landscapes
Overseeing landscape operations in parks and other recreational
areas
