HR Note - June 2009

What You Need to Know About Advertising for Any Position

If the position requires recruitment, Human Resources will be responsible for all advertising for that position.  Unless specific advertising requests are indicated on the electronic recruitment request form, ad placement will be determined by the Human Resources department.  Special advertising requests must be notated. The need to advertise in any specific publication such as Orlando Sentinel, Nursing Spectrum, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Hispanic Outlook etc. must appear on the electronic recruitment request form for the request to be considered.

If your position does not require recruitment (i.e., part time hourly, adjunct, work study) the department may select candidates by referrals or walk-ins, but may not solicit applicants through any advertising source.  This includes any on-line or print advertising sources and social networking sights.  Some examples of advertising sources not permitted include Craigslist, Monster, Sentinel, or Facebook.

For questions about recruitment and advertising, please call Human Resources at extension 8033.
