HR Note - April 2006

Positions Requiring a Valid Florida Driver License

In response to the Risk Management and Employee Benefits Review conducted in 2002, Human Resources has established a process to annually review driver licenses and driving records for employees in positions where driving is a requirement. Here is a list of the positions HR has identified to date:

Air Conditioning Technician Lead Groundskeeper
Assistant Shipping and Receiving Clerk Mail and Courier Services Supervisor
Cashier/Stock Clerk Mail Clerk
Custodial Services Assistant Supervisor Mail Clerk/Custodian
Custodial Services Supervisor Maintenance Assistant
Custodial Specialist Maintenance Technician
Custodial Working Supervisor Master Security Officer
Equipment Mechanic Program/Equipment Specialist (Class B CDL required)
Equipment Mechanic-Senior Security Field Supervisor

As new employees are hired into these positions, Human Resources will request a transcript of their driving record from the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. Then, once a year a request will be made for the driving records of all current employees, full-time and part-time, who are in positions requiring a valid Florida driver license.

Supervisors will be notified by Human Resources when a driving record indicates an employee=s license has been canceled, revoked, or suspended. If this happens, HR will work with the supervisor to take appropriate action. Employees in these positions are also being advised to notify their supervisor if they lose their driving privilege. Supervisors should contact HR immediately if they receive such notification from an employee.
